Recently, our college received a letter of thanks from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in China. The letter says that “during the 1st SCO Countries Vocational Skills Contest, the expertise, conscientiousness and dedication as well as the flexibility of the staff of Weihai Vocational College have won acknowledgement of the Kazakh delegation. The Kazakh side extends their heartfelt thanks to our college for our invitation and good service, and expects to further deepen cooperation and exchanges with our college.”
From Novenber 11 to November 13, 2019, the 1st SCO Countries Vocational Skills Contest (hereinafter referred to as the Contest), which was advocated by the SCO Secretariat, approved by the Shandong Provincial Government and recorded at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, was held successfully at Weihai Vocational College. Mr. Yerik Ashimov, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in China attended the event with a delegation of Embassy staff and 17 Kazakh students studying in China.
The Contest has been the largest youth event of SCO Secretariat since the SCO Qingdao Summit. Mr. Ashimov coordinated the Kazakh delegation’s participation in the contest and attended the whole process. The Contest serves as a platform for youth both in China and Kazakhstan to exchange experiences and skills as well as promote mutual friendship. During the contest, our college organized a series of cultural exchange events, such as the International Arts and Cultural Exchange Gala, the College Students Club Show and the Friendship Gala by Chinese and foreign contestants. These activities further promoted friendship among young people of different countries. Both Chinese and foreign team leaders, instructors and contestants were also shown on tours to famous local enterprises and other places, which gave them a deeper insight into the social and economic development of Weihai City, as well as the remarkable achievements China had made since its reform and opening-up.
The Letter of Thanks from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in China, fully acknowledges our effort at presenting a good international image and our capability of holding international contests. We will continue to adhere to the mission of “serving the Belt and Road Initiative and implementing the Shanghai Spirit”, and make further contributions to strengthening mutual trust and good-neighborly friendship and deepening cooperation in vocational education and other fields among SCO member states.
