After the outbreak of the covid-19 epidemic, our college paid great attention to the health and well-being of the foreign teachers and students on campus during the winter vacation. Party secretary of CPC Committee of the college Wu Yonggang, and President Li Yaohua directed and coordinated on-site epidemic prevention and control work on various occasions. International School actively played its role of overall coordination and made every effort to do a good job in every aspect of the work, staying with our foreign teachers and students all the time.

At the very start of the epidemic, our college set up a Leading Team on Epidemic Prevention and Control of Foreign Teachers and Students and a Liaison Work Group of Foreign Teachers and Students in China During Vacation. One-on-one contact is implemented and foreign teachers and students in China report twice daily through WeChat Group of their health conditions.Teachers in charge lost no time in imparting information about epidemic prevention and control and informing them of the college’s measures to help them guard themselves against the virus and keep a positive attitude. At present all the foreign teachers and students on campus are healthy and optimistic. In the meantime, our college has also maintained close contact with educational and foreign affairs authorities both at the city and the provincial levels, actively implementing their requirements and reporting  the conditions of those teachers and students.

During the campus lockdown when the residence halls are strictly regulated, to guarantee our foreign teachers and students a good living environment and adequate provisions, staff in charge of the living quarters remain on duty 24 hours a day to ensure normal operation of utilities such as water, electricity and heating; staff at Logistics purchase and deliver daily necessities to them regularly; teachers at International School managed to purchase sufficient amount of masks and pay them a visit on a regular basis. With those efforts, foreign teachers and students on campus are able to spend this special holiday indoors with love and care all around.

To enrich international students’ vacation life, TCSOLs have made full use of online resources and information technology to impart knowledge on Chinese culture and fight against the epidemic through DIY videos, real scenario presentation and actual objects.Through the on-line communication, they have conveyed to the students the real situation in China, conviction in prevailing over the epidemic and the Chinese tenacity and dauntless spirit in face of difficulties.

As British poet Percy Bysshe Shelley wrote, “If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?” We believe that through our solidarity and concerted efforts, Spring will surely come.
