International Students from Weihai Vocational College Participated in Taihe Youth Vocational Education Seminar

Recently, invited by Miss Lu Yihan, Research Assistant in Education Direction of Taihe Institute, a leading think tank in China headquartered in Beijing,2 international students at Weihai Vocational College, Sumita and Dipesh Mahat, both from Nepal, participated in the Taihe Youth Vocational Education Seminar. The seminar focused on the discussion of challenges in improving global young people’s vocational education skills during the pandemic period, how to improve the skills, and how to adapt to the changes brought about by the current epidemic crisis and the labor market as a whole. Mr. Ammar Muhammd, Government Affairs Director of Beijing Unicom Technology Co. Ltd., and Deputy Secretary of the Committee of International Students in China, Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association, Mr.Shoaib Kahut, PhD. in Economics from Shandong University, Ms. Liu Xinyi and Mr. Joe Plever, master and bachelor respectively from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, attended the online seminar.


During the meeting, the participants gave wonderful speeches on the development of vocational education.

Mr.Ammar Muhammd, Government Affairs Director of Beijing Unicom Technology Co. Ltd., and Deputy secretary-general of the Committee of International Students in China, Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association, pointed out that vocational colleges in different countries should establish cooperative schemes, share educational resources and jointly confront the current challenges in vocational education.

Mr.Shoaib Kahut, PhD. in Economics from Shandong University, introduced the recent development of vocational education in Pakistan and analyzed the contemporary vocational education system. He made a detailed introduction to the current employment status of Pakistan labor-exporting workers in Japan, South Korea and other countries, and demonstrate the importance of learning vocational skills.

Sumita spoke at the meeting on behalf of international students from our college. Before the seminar, she collected the relevant materials and prepared for the issues such as how youth around the world view vocational education and how young people adapt to the overall changes in the labor market brought about by the current pandemic crisis and expressed her opinion on the above-mentioned issues. Her wonderful speech was well received by the delegates. After the seminar, Miss Lu Yihan, expressed her thanks to Ms.Sun Aijuan, Dean of International School, Weihai Vocational College, for her help and support to the seminar and highly praised the speech by Sumita.

Sumita, international student representative, listened attentively to the speeches by the participants.
