On the morning of April 14, 2020, the signing and unveiling ceremony for Zhongguoyan (Weihai) Institute of Modern Agriculture (Weihai Branch of Jinan Fruit Research Institute) was held in the Multifunctional Conference Hall of Dongshan Hotel in Weihia City. Mr. Gao Shuliang,Vice Mayor of Weihai Municipal Government and Mr. Wu Maoyu, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Jinan Fruit Research Institute of ACFSMC (All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives) as well as Standing Vice-Chairman of China Apple Industry Association, attended the ceremony.
Mr. Gao Shuliang made a remark that Jinan Fruit Research Institute of ACFSMC is a national level scientific research institution specializing in researches on storage, preservation, deep processing of fruits, quality control, standardization and achievement transformation. The Weihai Municipal Government has attached great importance to the co-operation and attempted to turn the Weihai Branch into an industrial cultivation and talent training center. As a great achievement of the cooperation between government, industry, enterprise and school, the branch will rely on the scientific and technological resources, talents and industry advantages of Jinan Fruit Research Institute and regional advantage of Weihai Vocational College, integrate resources and carry out collaborative innovation activities, vigorously promote the healthy development of Weihai fruit industry and build the Weihai Branch into a Fruit R & D platform, industry incubation platform and enterprise service platform of the city.
Mr. Wu Maoyu said that since 2019, Shandong provincial government has attached great importance to the development of fruit industry, issued a series of policies supporting the development of the industry and established a number of related industrial research institutions. The establishment of the Weihai Branch provides a good opportunity for the fruit industry development in Weihai. At present, the standardized planting level of the fruit industry in Weihai is top-ranked nationwide, but the after-harvest circulation, manufacturing and resource utilization are less advanced. Jinan Fruit Research Institute has the advantages of technology, talents and platform resources . From now on, the Jinan Institute will incorporate a series of advantageous resources and provide all-round technical support for the storage, preservation, deep processing of fruits and other agricultural produce in Weihai, as well as quality control and standardization. At the same time, by working closely with Weihai Vocational College and relevant market leaders, the branch will make innovative development in achievement transformation and branding, realize talent empowerment, standard empowerment, brand empowerment, technology empowerment and platform empowerment, thus provide new momentum for high-quality development of agricultural industry in Weihai.
It is understood that the branch, based in Weihai, serving Shandong Peninsula and radiating Liaodong Peninsula, will focus on basic research in the whole chain of agricultural products, application development and industrialization promotion, covering the whole industry chain from new varieties and technology of fruits and vegetables, cold chain storage and logistics, quality safety and inspection to biotechnology and deep processing. It will provide all-round technical support in terms of storage, preservation, cold chain, deep processing, quality control and standardization of fresh agricultural produce.
